Thank you for choosing a DLX mattress. To help you keep it in great shape and ensure a good night's sleep for years to come, here are some straightforward care tips. Following these simple steps can make a big difference in maintaining the quality of your mattress.

Flipping and Rotating: Maximizing Mattress Longevity

Proper mattress maintenance is a critical aspect of ensuring the longevity and performance of your investment. We like to think of it as similar to rotating the tires on your car to ensure even wear.

Contrary to common misconceptions, rotating and flipping your mattress is recommended. This practice is especially important for two-sided mattresses, such as our Classic Hybrid, which have the same firmness on both sides. Our recommendation is to flip and/or rotate your mattress every three months or with the changing of the seasons. By alternating between rotating and flipping your mattress, you can help distribute wear evenly across all materials, ensuring a more extended lifespan.

How to Rotate Your One-Sided and Two-Sided Mattress

Rotate the mattress 180 degrees on top of your foundation, adjustable base, platform, or bed frame, so that foot of the mattress is now position at the head of the bed and vice versa.

Rotating mattressHead of the mattress becomes the foot of the bed.

How to Flip Your Two-Sided Mattress

1. Begin by rotating the mattress halfway.
2. Carefully raise the mattress on its edge.
3. Gently lower the mattress to expose the other side.
4. Finish by rotating the mattress so that it aligns properly with your box spring, foundation, adjustable bed, or bed frame.

Step 1. Spin mattressStep 2. Put mattress on edge.Step 3. Flip over mattressStep 4. Reposition mattress

Helpful Tip: Please be cautious of your back and any fragile objects around the bed when performing these tasks. Never attempt to flip or turn your mattress alone; it is a job that requires assistance from another person.

Rotating a King Size Mattress: Special Tips and Tricks

Here's an insider tip for King-size mattresses: Typically, a King-size mattress develops a ridge in the middle due to the fact that no one sleeps in that area, causing it to remain practically unused while the parts where people sleep become softer. As a result, the mattress can feel uneven, necessitating the need to distribute the wear more evenly and make use of the middle section.

While a King-size mattress isn't a perfect square and is longer than it is wide, you can still address this issue effectively. Instead of conventional rotation, try this unconventional approach:

Rotate king size mattress 90 degrees.King size mattress hanging over on the sides.

Rotate the mattress halfway so that approximately 80 inches extend beyond the edge on both sides by about 2 inches. By doing so, you'll start sleeping on and utilizing the previously untouched middle portion.

This approach may seem unusual, but allowing it to hang off the edge on both sides by two inches shouldn't pose a significant issue for a week or two. If you repeat this process every 3 to 6 months for a couple of weeks, you'll notice a significant improvement in the long run. It may seem unconventional, but it delivers positive results.

Does DLX require you to rotate and/or flip your mattress?

No. At DLX Mattress, we actively encourage our customers to flip and rotate their mattresses. While it's challenging to monitor or enforce this routine for warranty purposes, we highly recommend it for any mattress, not just ours.

The industry standard for warranty claims typically revolves around material compression. However, even without regular flipping or rotating, you usually won't see this kind of wear in our products. Instead, what might become noticeable is a softer feel in areas of frequent use, which, unfortunately, is not covered by mattress warranties.

Our commitment is to educate our customers about these practices so they can fully enjoy the comfort and quality of our mattresses over time. We believe that informed customers make the best choices and are better equipped to ensure the longevity of their mattresses. Thank you for choosing DLX Mattress as your trusted source for quality sleep solutions.

Ensuring Proper Support for Your DLX Mattress

While we don't require you to purchase a specific foundation or bed frame, we do strongly recommend providing adequate support for your mattress to ensure it can support you effectively. Proper support not only enhances your sleep experience but also helps prevent structural damage and the dreaded sagging effect.

If you find that your mattress feels saggy, lacks support, or exhibits any unusual behavior, we suggest a simple test. Try placing your mattress on the floor temporarily to see if the issue persists. If problems persist, please don't hesitate to reach out to us for assistance. We're here to help.

Remember, what's underneath your mattress can significantly impact your sleep quality. Without the right support, your mattress may sink and soften, failing to perform as designed. Proper support will prevent bowing or breakage and maintain the integrity of your mattress.

If you're unsure whether your current bed setup is compatible or need any guidance, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We're more than happy to assist you and provide the information you need to enjoy your DLX Mattress to the fullest. Your sleep quality matters to us, and we're here to support you in every way possible.

Maintenance Tips: Keeping Your Mattress Clean

Can I Wash My DLX Mattress?

We understand the importance of maintaining your mattress to ensure a clean and comfortable sleeping environment. Here are some guidelines on how to care for your DLX mattress cover:

Rule #1: DO NOT wash your mattress cover or use water or other liquid cleaning products on the mattress. The first and most crucial rule to remember is not to wash your DLX mattress cover or use any liquids on your mattress. It is not designed to be machine-washed or get wet.
Rule #2: Avoid Washing Your Mattress Cover or using water or other liquid cleaning products on the mattress. Rule #2 reinforces the importance of Rule #1. Washing the mattress cover or using liquids on the mattress can damage its integrity and compromise its performance.

What Should You Do to Protect Your DLX?

Invest in a Mattress Protector. To keep your DLX mattress in pristine condition, we highly recommend using a mattress protector. Our mattresses are subjected to daily wear and tear, with dead skin cells, hair, drool, oils, bodily fluids, dirt, and dust accumulating over time. While you can wash your sheets, you cannot wash your mattress, making a mattress protector essential.

If you have infants, small children, or pets who frequently share your bed, a waterproof mattress protector is particularly valuable. These protectors come in various styles, such as fully enclosed dust mite covers. They all do an excellent job of safeguarding your mattress.

How to Clean Your Mattress:

1. Vacuum Your Mattress
Who knew, but you can vacuum your mattress. Only use a hand vacuum or upholstery attachment, being careful not to tear the cover and use it on low power -- avoid a shop vacuum that it high powered. Never use a vacuum with a vacuum with rotating blades. These rip the fabric on the mattress.
Vacuuming is a crucial initial step as it effectively removes dirt particles, dust, dead skin, and other debris trapped under your sheets.

2. Use Baking Soda
In a small container or an empty salt-shaker, sprinkle baking soda evenly over the mattress cover. Baking soda is a versatile, odorless cleaning agent that absorbs moisture and eliminates odors. Let the baking soda sit for several hours, preferably applied in the morning and vacuumed up in the evening.

3. Air Your Mattress Regularly
To help maintain the freshness of your mattress, take off the covers and let it air out for approximately twenty minutes each week. This simple step can aid in keeping your mattress dry and odor-free. When you go on vacation, consider leaving your mattress uncovered for an extended period, as even a weekend without covers can make a noticeable difference.

What if Your Mattress Gets Soiled?

Accidents can happen, especially during certain life stages. To address soiling issues, we recommend using a waterproof mattress protector to prevent such incidents. However, if your mattress does get wet, here are some steps to take:

1. Gently Blot and Dry: If the cover gets wet, gently blot the area dry with a clean, dry towel.

2. Utilize Salt for Moisture Absorption: Cover the wet area with a generous layer of salt, known for its excellent moisture-absorbing properties, and leave it for 4-6 hours.

3. Carefully Remove Salt: Begin by sweeping up the salt with a hand brush and dustpan. Next, gently vacuum up any remaining salt using a low suction setting, ensuring you use upholstery attachments to prevent damage to the fabric. Avoid high-powered shop vacuums to protect your mattress cover.

4. Allow Proper Airing: Keep sheets, blankets, and other bedding off the mattress for at least 24-48 hours to allow it to air out properly.

By following these guidelines, you can extend the life of your DLX mattress and enjoy a clean, comfortable night's sleep for years to come.
